I’m Marissa Pacheco, a Texan by birth and a Buckeye by choice. I graduated with a degree in strategic communication from The Ohio State University in May 2014 and while I’m still not sure how I feel about the snow, I’m proud to say that Cleveland is the first stop on my post-grad journey.
My experience as an editorial intern at Ohio State’s Arts and Sciences Communications Services gave me the opportunity to write compelling stories and implement social media campaigns that engaged current and potential students, as well as reconnected alumni to their alma mater. I loved getting to showcase the college’s most interesting professors, students, and institutes. It was also fun knowing which concert, play, or lecture was happening on campus at any given time.
During my time as a beauty columnist for College Fashion, I wrote a biweekly column where I discussed my most reliable and favorite products, how to rock the latest runway trends, and how to pamper yourself on a budget. While my unique application for this position helped me stand out among 400 other applicants, my conversational writing style helped college girls navigate classic beauty dilemmas–from finding the perfect shade of red lipstick to pulling off bangs.
As a campus brand ambassador for Madewell, I introduced the clothing brand to peers by planning in-store and on-campus events; and creating online buzz via social media and e-newsletters. My favorite event included a scavenger hunt around the store, a styling contest, and a braid bar. Oh and a cupcake tower, we always made sure to have a cupcake tower at our events!
Life has taken me on quite the journey since graduating from college. I am currently working as Licensed Massage Therapist under the State Medical Board of Ohio. I’ve quickly gained experience working in a fast-paced, luxury wellness spa where I specialize in deep tissue/therapeutic, Swedish, and prenatal massage.
